A product of the coconut tree, palm jaggery is made without chemicals using the traditional method of making jaggery. Coconut toddy is cooked to prepare the jaggery in iron pans, and then moulded in pyramid wood containers.
It has a natural chocolate taste and is great on its own, in desserts and in coffee. It is rich in minerals, especially calcium, and it provides instant energy without the negatives of refined foods like white sugar.
This product is the livelihood of the village women.
Conscious Food sources most of its products from small organic farms and farming communities all over the country. A rigorous check is maintained on quality, and stringent standards of hygiene are enforced at every stage, from the farm to the Conscious Food workshop in Mumbai, and from there on to the retail outlets. We are recognised by ECOCERT, an inspection and certification body for organic, fair trade and good agricultural practices (GAP), as an officially certified trading house.
Our workshop at Parel is certified by Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) which is a systematic preventive approach to food safety that addresses physical, chemical and biological hazards as a means of prevention, rather than finished product inspection. The system is used at all stages of food production and preparation processes including packaging, distribution, etc.
We are focused on providing 'employment with dignity' and give preference to under-privileged women for employment at our facilities at Parel, Mumbai.
